JB Beverly is not an unknown in the music scene!  Raised with old-time country, bluegrass and all kinds of blues the man was bitten by the punk vibes when he was in his teens and has since then combined his career as country artists and full time punk.  His first tints where of course in the punk music and not unsuccessful if you ask me!  JB was frontman of The Bad Habbits and worked later with the Murder Junkies.  However the roots of the country, hillbilly and bluegrass sounds kept calling the man and thus in between jobs he started buskin some classics! After doing a couple of stints in the Punk genre again, JB returned to the roots but this time he chose for country infested blues music.

“Watch America Roll By”  is the follow up album to the well received debut Highball. While all tunes on the album are self-penned they sound rather familiar somehow. The Blues song “Walked Across Texas” immediately stole my heart! Hearing the man sing about San Antonio brings bang such good memories of the river walk that I immediately want to go back. Other Texan highlights like Houston and Austin are also commented in this well crafted tune. “They only Play My Music” (when I’m dead) is done in a style reminiscent to Hank Williams III. “Gonna Ride A Train” is simply said a great tune and brings us back to the old days of country music!  Not the plasticized pop music that is called Country but the true and honest music from the Country! Rough, ragged and true!  “Gonna Ride A Train” is made in the original style of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and other long forgotten legends! Made for real cowboys & Cowgirls.  “End of the Road” is yet another tune that I keep playing simply because it is so good! It is also reminiscent to Hank Williams the III in some ways but that is easily to understand if you know the pair hooked up together for some extensive touring in 2004.  Other greats who joined J.B Beverly & The Wayward Drifters on stage are Dale Watson, Bill Kirchen or Lee Rocker to name but a few.
“Drug Train” is a quite hot steaming track that is without doubt the best tune on the complete album. With some heavy banjo picking and some great double bass slapping this tune really rocks!

J.B Beverly & The Wayward Drifters will without doubt please everybody who is into roots rock, Rockabilly or assorted genres!  The sound is honest and well produced and comes with an truly original atmosphere.  I surely dig this kind of music and I’m pretty sure you do as well!
